The Text Input Panel is used by the stylus to enter text into any program that you would normally type into.

Speech recognition is built into Windows, and is included on the tablets as part of the text input panel.

There are also audio recording programs (such as Audacity) that allow sound files to be easily manipulated.

“Windows Journal” is like having a sheet of paper to write on.

Digital Textbooks

Tablets allow students to write symbols, characters, equations, and diagrams. (Normal laptops only accept typed text.)

Teachers can create documents incorporating typed text and graphics which can be “written” upon by the students. Students can also use rulers and protractors  on top of the tablet surface.

Scanning Paper to Digital Format

Worksheets can be completed on the tablet and can be submitted electronically or be printed.

The teacher can email an assignment and/or an answer key for absent students.

Concepts and content can be illustrated, collaborated upon, and shared electronically.

Notes, diagrams, pictures, labels, etc. can be easily moved around and corrected if errors are made.

Microsoft Word files can be annotated with “digital ink” for editing purposes.

Multiple pen colors allow reviewers to indicate various editing elements.

PowerPoint slides can be annotated.
